A lash lift at Shapes Glow Studio will typically last 6–8 weeks — but how close you get to that 8-week mark depends almost entirely on your aftercare. Sophie B has performed hundreds of lash lift treatments across our Vancouver and Surrey studios, and these are her top tips for making every result last as long as possible.
The Critical First 24 Hours
The first 24 hours after your lash lift are the most important. The treatment works by restructuring the proteins in your lashes, and it needs time to fully set before any moisture is introduced.
- No water on your lashes — this includes showering (angle your face away), washing your face, and crying (yes, really).
- No steam or heat — avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga, and even standing over a boiling pot.
- No mascara — give the treatment a full 24 hours before applying any product to your lashes.
- No rubbing or touching — the lifted curl can be disturbed in the first few hours if pressed flat.
Practical tip: Book your lash lift appointment on a day when you don't have plans that evening. It makes the 24-hour aftercare window much easier to manage.
Daily Habits That Extend Your Results
- Use a lash serum: Applying a nourishing lash serum nightly (from Week 2 onwards) keeps lashes healthy, flexible and less prone to breakage — which directly extends how long the lift looks fresh.
- Sleep on a silk pillowcase: Cotton fibres can create friction against your lashes overnight. A silk or satin pillowcase significantly reduces this.
- Remove eye makeup gently: Use a gentle, oil-free micellar water and a soft cotton pad. Never rub or pull.
- Avoid waterproof mascara: It requires more aggressive removal which can stress the lifted lashes. Regular mascara is fine after 24 hours.
What to Avoid Long-Term
- Oil-based eye products: Oils can break down the bond created during the lift treatment. Check ingredient lists on your eye creams and makeup removers.
- Lash curlers: You don't need them — your lashes are already lifted. Using a curler can crease and damage the treated lashes.
- Excessive sun exposure: UV rays can fade the lash tint and dry out the lashes. Wear sunglasses when outdoors for extended periods.
When to Rebook
Most clients see their best results between weeks 2–5. By week 6, you'll start to notice new growth coming in at a different angle to the lifted lashes, which can make things look slightly uneven. We recommend booking your next appointment around week 6–7 rather than waiting until the lift has fully dropped — that way you maintain a consistently polished look.
Our lash lift with complimentary hand massage is available at both our Kitsilano and Surrey (7238 189 St #59, Surrey BC V4N 5M8) studios. Book online or call 604-736-6245.
Book your follow-up before you leave: Our most glowing clients book their 6-week appointment on the way out of their current one. It keeps their lashes in a constant state of gorgeous.
