If you've been looking at permanent brow options in Vancouver and drawn to the soft, filled-in style — that's ombré brows. They've become the most requested permanent brow technique in our studio over the past two years, overtaking traditional microblading for many skin types.
What Are Ombré Brows Exactly?
Ombré brows (also called powder brows) use a machine technique to deposit thousands of tiny pigment dots into the skin, building from a lighter front to a deeper, more defined tail — mimicking the gradient of a professionally applied brow powder. Results last 1–3 years depending on skin type and aftercare.
Ombré vs Microblading: Which is More Natural?
- On fair, dry skin: microblading can look incredibly natural
- On medium-dark or oily skin: ombré ages better and holds definition longer, as microblading strokes can blur on oily skin types
- For clients who regularly fill in brows with powder anyway: ombré creates a permanent version of their existing look
Skin type matters: Ombré brows are generally recommended for oily, combination and mature skin types. Sophie assesses your skin at the consultation before recommending a technique.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
An ombré brow appointment takes 2–3 hours. Sophie begins with consultation and detailed face mapping to design the shape, then applies topical numbing cream before beginning the pigment work. A follow-up touch-up 6–8 weeks later is included in the price.
Healing and Aftercare
- Brows will appear darker and slightly swollen for the first 3–5 days — this is normal
- Avoid wetting the area for 10 days
- No sun exposure on the brow area during healing
- Apply the provided aftercare balm as directed
- Full colour settles after 4–6 weeks once the surface layer has shed
Ombré Powder Brows start from $450, including the follow-up touch-up. Available at our Vancouver (Kitsilano) studio. Book a consultation online or call 604-736-6245.
